The world’s best restaurant, now on the cinema menu

- CANNES 2015: Before Cannes, TrustNordisk sold Pierre Deschamps’ documentary Noma – My Perfect Storm to Japan
Danish international sales agent TrustNordisk will launch a promo of French photographer-turned-director Pierre Deschamps’ Noma – My Perfect Storm at the Film Market of the Cannes International Film Festival (13-24 May) – but before it was even on the menu, it was picked up by Japanese distributor Longride.
“We are so thrilled to bring this unique documentary to the Japanese audience – it will be a perfect match for the speciality arthouse market,” said Longride president Norio Hatano, who had not seen the video that TrustNordisk will present at the Film Market.
For his first feature-length documentary, Deschamps followed Danish chef and Nordic gastronomy frontrunner René Redzepi for three years, portraying the co-founder of Copenhagen’s Noma, the world’s best restaurant, “in a culinary language that we all understand”.
Set up in 2003 with his Danish colleague Claus Meyer, the 11-table restaurant in an 18th-century warehouse at Copenhagen’s Christianshavn has, since 2008, boasted two Michelin stars and, since 2010 (except in 2013), been named the World’s Best Restaurant, according to Restaurant Magazine.
Noma – My Perfect Storm was produced by Etta Deschamps Thompson, for UK outfit Documentree Films, in collaboration with Denmark’s Blenkov & Schønnemann Pictures, Good Rolling Films, the Copenhagen Film Fund, the Øresund Film Commission and Red Rental.
At Cannes, TrustNordisk will continue selling Norwegian director Hans Petter Moland’s A Conspiracy of Faith [+see also:
film profile], the third instalment in the Department Q thriller series, based on Danish author Jussi Adler-Olsen’s novels. Now shooting in Germany and Denmark, the film has already been licensed to more than 15 countries.
The line-up includes Swedish director Stig Björkman’s biopic Ingrid Bergman – In Her Own Words, celebrating what would have been the 100th birthday of the Swedish actress, who adorns this year’s festival poster, as well as Swedish director Magnus von Horn’s The Here After [+see also:

Other titles include Danish director Kenneth Kainz’s fantasy-adventure The Shamer’s Daughter [+see also:
film profile], which has now exceeded 206,000 domestic admissions and has sold to almost 20 countries; Norwegian director Nils Gaup’s upcoming medieval action-drama, The Last King [+see also:
