Scripted by Vinterberg and Tobias Lindholm, the Sisse Graum Jørgensen and Morten Kaufmann production for Denmark’s Zentropa Entertainments follows a young, academic couple, Erik and Anna, who in the 1970s move into a commune in Hellerup with their daughter; the movie is described as “a humorous, sensitive but also painful and touching portrait of a bygone era”. In the beginning, it was like being invited into a dream, “living, discussing, arguing, making love, inspiring each other”; but then Erik’s young girlfriend joins the collective.

Swedish director Stig Björkman’s documentary on the Swedish actress adorning this year’s festival poster, Ingrid Bergman – In Her Own Words, has also generated interest among distributors worldwide, which “does not come as a surprise”, according to TrustNordisk CEO Rikke Ennis. “Bergman was one of the biggest stars of our time, and the film shows a more personal side than ever seen before.”

Produced by Stina Gardell for Mantaray Film, with Germany’s ZDF and ARTE, among others, the Ingrid Bergman biopic has been picked up by Italy (Cinema Srl), Australia (Transmission Films), France (Pretty Pictures), Japan (Tohokushinsha Film Corporation) and Taiwan (Momentum), with several territories currently in negotiations. NonStop Entertainment is handling Nordic distribution.
