US in Progress Paris: European cinema lends a helping hand to US indies
- The initiative at the Champs-Élysées Film Festival is intended to promote American independent cinema in Europe
The fourth edition of the Champs-Élysées Film Festival, which will take place in Paris from 9-16 June, will host US in Progress Paris, a unique initiative to promote American independent cinema in Europe.
With Cineuropa among its media partners, US in Progress Paris is a workshop organised jointly with the American Film Festival in Wroclaw and Black Rabbit Film. The programme is made up of two yearly sessions, the first taking place in Paris from 9-11 June, and the next held in the context of the American Film Festival in Wroclaw, in October 2015.
US in Progress Paris is the first and only industry event in Europe to be devoted to US indie films, and aims to boost their circulation through European distribution channels.
Six independent American feature-length films in post-production have been selected to be presented to top European producers and distributors, and will compete to receive financial assistance and services for post-production, as well as promotion and distribution.
The projects that will take part in this year’s workshop are: Another Evil, directed by Carson Mell; AWOL by Deb Shoval; Diverge by James Morrison; Live Cargo by Logan Sandler; Porto Mon Amour [+see also:

The Champs-Élysées Film Festival promotes independent cinema, with a special focus on French and American films. This year’s presidents are Jeremy Irons and Émilie Dequenne.
