The 50th edition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival came to an end this weekend with its traditional awards ceremony, which celebrated the winners as well as the festival itself, as this year marked its half a century of existence.
The US film Bob and the Trees [+see also:
film profile] by Diego Ongaro turned out to be the jury’s favourite, and thus it won the Crystal Globe. The Special Jury Prize was awarded to the Austrian movie Those Who Fall Have Wings [+see also:

film profile], a co-production between Germany, Kosovo, Macedonia and France, is continuing its success story after it bagged a host of prizes at Munich – this time it was given the Best Director Award, for Visar Morina. The Czech Republic excelled thanks to its acting talents: the Best Actress Award went to Alena Mihulová (Home Care [+see also:

The jury of the East of the West competition opted for The Wednesday Child [+see also:

film profile] by Hungarian director Lili Horváth, while the more than 75,000 viewers were involved in the vote for the Audience Award, which was handed over to US actor Harvey Keitel on stage, as he was there to represent Youth [+see also:
