This year the SIAE Prize 2015 for an emerging talent in Italian film who stands out in the Venice Days section goes to the surprising debut film of twenty-five-year-old director Lorenzo Berghella, animated film Bangland [+see also:

Bangland is a provocative and irreverent graphic novel about a completely invented and paradoxical America, imagined, animated and designed by Lorenzo Berghella. Trained at small animation school IFA (the International Film Academy), which is run by brothers Alessandro and Cristiano di Felice, Berghella built his fantasy world in stages: Bangland was actually born out of his experience working on web series Too Bad. Thanks to the input of the producer, Gianluca Arcopinto, and the laboratory of Mina, Bangland was born and will be distributed by Pablo Distribuzione through Kio film.
The SIAE Prize aims to encourage the creativity of a young and original writer who uses paradox and provocation – even to the extreme – to bring us a bitter tale of our time using the ultra-modern language of a graphic novel.
