The 33rd edition of the Golden Rose Film Festival, which focuses on recent Bulgarian features and short films, will be held from 2-11 October in the city of Varna. is representing the country for the nominations for next year’s Academy Awards.

, are also in the selection. Meanwhile, several classic domestic features will be screened as part of the Bulgarian film centenary events. 

The festival will not neglect the industry aspects of Bulgarian cinema: it will host round tables discussing strategies for the development of local film production and for the digitisation of the national film heritage. Also, Nu Boyana Film, which has been attracting Hollywood’s biggest stars to the studios near Sofia, will present initiatives intended to support domestic cinema.

The winners will be announced on 11 October.
