29/10/2015 - On Sunday 1 November the sixth edition of the Festival, which turns the spotlight onto European writers for a month, kicks off at the Cinema America

The place to be is the Cinema America from 1 November through to 1 December 2015, with a new location and a new updated format for the sixth edition of the Festival Nuovo Cinema Europa. For one month, Genoa will turn the spotlight onto new faces on the international film scene, with a programme of nine events two days a week, including screenings, discussions and other events held in the city.

Put together by Angela Ferrari and coordinated by cultural organisation Profondità di Campo, the Festival will showcase a selection of European feature films produced in the last two years. Debut pieces will compete for the Audience Award, which audiences will be asked to vote on after the screenings, and for the Jury Prize, the jury being made up of Beppe Anderi, Juri Saitta and Ilaria Sechi this year.

Kicking things off will be French comedy 2 Autumns 3 Winters [+see also:

film profile] by Swedish video artist Anna Odell, a film which did very well at the Swedish equivalent of the Oscars, the Guldbagge Awards (winning the awards for Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Actress) after being unveiled out of competition in Critics Week of the 70^th Venice Film Festival. Jiří Mádl and Jayakrishnan Subramanian with Franziska Schönenberger (who became man and wife in a happy ending to their autobiographical film) will be attending the Festival to hold discussions with audiences after the screenings of their films.

The Festival is supported and sponsored by the Municipality of Genoa, and is organised in collaboration with Cinema Genova Centro, the Università degli Studi di Genova and the European Cultural Institutions responsible for choosing films based on artistic content.
