, which was shot in the highest settlement in the world, La Rinconada y Cerro Lunar, in the Peruvian Andes, will have its world premiere at the gathering, whereas Rio Corgo by Kosa and da Costa has bagged its first selection for an international festival after its local premiere at the latest DocLisboa, where it pocketed the Award for Best Local Film.

Producer Paulo Branco (Alfama Films) has, for his part, managed to place An Outpost of Progress in the event’s schedule, too. Based on a novel by Joseph Conrad, the film stars Nuno Lopes and Ivo Alexandre as two Portuguese colonisers in Africa. Austrian-based Portuguese-born director Vieira da Silva had already presented his previous feature, Swans, at the Berlinale in 2011. An Outpost of Progress is his third feature and will screen as a world premiere.

The Portuguese talent in Berlin is rounded off by the shorts Balada de Um Batráquio by Leonor Teles, Freud und Friends by Gabriel Abrantes and L'oiseau de la nuit by Marie Losier. The latter two were originally part of the film Here in Lisbon, produced by the IndieLisboa Festival (read more).
