During the 66th Berlin Film Festival, the industry debates at the EFM – European Film Market in Berlin, which will this year celebrate their tenth anniversary, will again tackle the hottest topics in the film and media industry. The event, organised by the EFM in partnership with international specialist magazines Screen International, The Hollywood Reporter and Variety, will take place at the Gropius Mirror Restaurant from 13-15 February, between 4pm and 5pm, and will revolve around three major discussions.

The first will examine “The Growing Influence of Korea on Southeast Asian Cinema”. The second will tackle the role of “Producers as Entrepreneurs” and the fact that it is now producers' responsibility not only to produce and take charge of creative content, but also to establish themselves as company bosses, in a market that has become highly competitive. Speakers at the debate include Sol Bondy (One Two Films), Natasha Dack (Tigerlily Films), Guneet Monga (Sikhya Entertainment) and Agnes Johansen (RVK Studios).

The third discussion, which will coincide with the Drama Series Days and is being presented in collaboration with regional fund NRW, will analyse the boom in high-quality TV series in Europe and the ingredients that make a series into an international hit. Participants include Caroline Benjo (Haut et Court), Piv Bernth (Danish Broadcasting Corporation), Philipp Steffens (RTL) and Bruce Tuchman (AMC/Sundance). Another debate will take place on the 15th, still within the Drama Series Days, which will consider the content from the point of view of the channels and their strategies when it comes to commissioning series. Speakers such as Marcus Ammon (Sky Deutschland), Andrea Scrosati (Sky Italia) and Antony Root (HBO Europe) will be taking part.

The debates are accessible free of charge, subject to advance registration on the market’s website. Each debate will be followed by a cocktail reception that will allow professionals to expand their networks.
