Prominent figures from the government of the People’s Republic of China were present for the signing of the agreement, such as Ouyang Jian, the secretary of the Gansu Provincial Committee, and the plenipotentiary ambassador in Spain Lyu Fan, as well as the director of the Valencian Institute of Culture (IVAC), José Luis Moreno, and representatives of FAPAE (Mabel Klimt), Crea SGR (Rafael Lambea), EGEDA (Rafael Sánchez) and the Film Academy (its secretary, Porfirio Enríquez).

The co-production agreement between Spain and China has been on the agenda of both governments since 2014, but it has only now taken shape in a concrete film project, despite a number of trips and never-ending negotiations “to make it a reality”, according to Ximo Pérez.

Bikes The Movie, which is relying on the animation production support of Culturarts (Valencia) and a number of Levantine investors, will follow in the successful footsteps of American films of the same genre such as Cars, but with a strong eco-friendly message, as the bicycle is the most commonly used form of transport in China and is increasingly trendy in Europe.
