A Dutchman in Japan

by

Netherlands' screenwriter, Wijo Koek, (Costa!) announced his next project will be based on the true story of a 27-year-old native of Groningen (Holland), a mechanic, who travelled to Japan in 2001 and promptly disappeared for a month. The man had a business appointment with representatives of a company located just 30 kilometres from the airport but instead of turning up in Tokyo, the mechanic (who spoke not a word of Japanese) resurfaced in Yotsukaido and then decided to walk to the capital.
The film is likely to be directed by Jean van de Velde and produced by Paul Voorthuysen (Added Film International) with a budget of between Euros3m and Euros4m on location in Japan. The as-yet untitled project should be in the can by the end of 2004.
