11/04/2016 - 24 film projects from six countries will be presented during the Coming Soon session

Meeting Point – Vilnius, which will take place from 12-14 April during the Vilnius International Film Festival, will showcase 24 film projects to over 200 film-industry professionals, including programmers and artistic directors from such festivals as San Sebastián, Locarno, Tallinn and Palm Springs. They will be joined by sales agents from top European film companies.

The projects in the Coming Soon section will include the documentary Wonderful Losers: A Different World [+see also:

film profile] by multi-award-winning Lithuanian director Arūnas Matelis and the historical drama Emilia by director Donatas Ulvydas, whose previous film, Tadas Blinda. The Legend Is Born, is recognised as one of the most popular Lithuanian movies ever released.

Other notable films are being co-produced by the three Baltic states: The Master Plan, directed by Juris Pakalninš, and produced by Gints Grūbe and Jurga Gluskinienė; Pretenders [+see also:

film profile], directed by Vallo Toomla, and produced by Riina Sildos, Uljana Kim and Roberts Vinovskis; and the Latvian film Exiled [+see also:

film profile] by Dāvis Sīmanis, which is also being co-produced by Studio Uljana Kim.

An initiative from the Lithuanian Film Centre will also see special attention given to Lithuanian-Polish co-productions.

Together with the Coming Soon session and industry screenings, the three-day industry event will include a conference for producers, the Film Festival Symposium organised together with the Independent Cinema Office and presentations on audiovisual topics. They will be followed by special pitching consultations by Israel Film Fund director Katriel Schory, and a talk with three-time Oscar-winning sound engineer Christopher Newman.
