Ghent rewards distributors
The 30th edition of the Flanders-Ghent International Film Festival will run from 7-18 October 2003 and celebrate this landmark by upping the total prize money by 10 per cent to Euros81,000 all of which will go to theatrical distributors in Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. In the past the money was split between the winning film's director, composer and writer. Now the Gand-Flanders event will be able to fulfil one of its main goals: support for distributors of art house films many of whom have been hit extremely hard by the recession.
This year’s theme is The Impact of Music on Cinema and some fifteen titles will compete in the four main categories: best film (Euros25,000), score (Euros15,000), screenplay (Euros12,000) and director (Euros5,000).
