Denmark’s Ecclesiastical Councils presented Finnish director, Aki Kaurismäki with their ecumenical Archange Gabriel award (and a cash prize of DKR15,000 or Euros2000) for The Man Without A Past [+see also:

film profile]. This title also won the Nordic Film Prize for 2002.
Contemporaneously with this important award, Danish distributor, Husets Biograf is re-releasing Kaurismäki’s trilogy dedicated to the working classes. Varjoja paratiisissa (Shadows in Paradise – 1986), Ariel (1988) and Tulitikkutehtaan tyttö (1990), produced by Finland’s Villealfa Filmproduktion.
