Alex Piperno’s Window Boy Would Also Like to Have a Submarine

Two new co-production projects linking South American and Dutch film professionals have been selected during the spring round of the Netherlands Film Fund and Hubert Bals Fund Co-Production Scheme 2016. They were allocated €50,000 each.

Amsterdam-based Balder Films is co-producing Window Boy Would Also Like to Have a Submarine by Uruguayan director Alex Piperno. The project, which also involves outfits La Pobladora Cine (Uruguay), Desvia (Brazil) and Una Rana Salta (Argentina), focuses on a young sailor who discovers a hallway on a cruise ship that mysteriously leads to an apartment in Montevideo.

by Argentinian director Sebastián Schjaer is being co-produced by the Netherlands’ Volya Films. Other production outfits attached include Trapecio Cine (Argentina), Unafilm (Germany) and Mandra Films (France). The film follows the life of a young girl moving with her boyfriend and daughter to a desolate town in the south of Argentina, with the sole purpose of saving money to make their dreams come true.

Now entering its tenth year, the NFF + HBF Co-Production Scheme is a joint programme organised by the Netherlands Film Fund and the International Film Festival Rotterdam that supports Dutch producers involved in international co-productions through the Hubert Bals Fund. Four projects are supported annually.
