22/06/2016 - Damjan Kozole's Nightlife will screen in the Official Competition, while Žiga Virc's Houston, We Have a Problem! heads to East of the West

Two Slovenian films will take part in the competition programmes of the Karlovy Vary Film Festival (1-9 July).

film profile], takes place over one night, when a high-profile attorney is found on the pavement by a main road running through Ljubljana. He is barely conscious, lying in a pool of blood and covered in dog bites. Doctors at the medical centre fight to keep him alive while his wife, in shock, confronts her deepest fears.

The film stars Pia Zemljič (Rooster's Breakfast) and Jernej Šugman (Inferno [+see also:

Nightlife was co-produced by Slovenia's Vertigo, Macedonia's Sisters and Brother Mitevski, and Bosnia and Herzegovina's SCCA/Pro.Ba.

Set to have its European premiere in the East of the West section, Žiga Virc's first feature, Houston, We Have a Problem! [+see also:

film profile], is a mix of myths and facts, and tells the unbelievable story of the top-secret Yugoslav space programme that Tito sold to the United States in the 1960s for several billion dollars. It includes archive footage featuring Tito, JFK, Nixon, Carter, Johnson and Clinton, and interviews with Slavoj Žižek.

The film world-premiered at Tribeca and is a co-production between Slovenia's Studio Virc, Croatia's Nukleus Film and Germany's Sutor Kolonko.
