This was decreed by the jury at the Georgian National Film Center, one of the members of which was director-screenwriter Zaza Urushadze, who was nominated in the same category for both the Oscars and the Golden Globes in 2015.

The film follows the lives of two families who have survived a brief but brutal war in the Georgian region of Abkhazia in the 1990s. Despite belonging to the winning side, and therefore enjoying the right to occupy the houses abandoned and left empty by the losers, the protagonists of this cryptic and disturbing work seem to have been robbed of both their own lives and their new houses, inhabited by the ghosts of their former occupants.

Following her victory in the East of the West competition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, the young Georgian director has thus reached another important milestone with the film. The movie is a co-production between Georgian outfits Cinetech Film Production and SARKE Group, Russia’s Liga Production, Spain’s Kinoscopik, and Croatia’s Embrio. Tato Films will be in charge of its international sales.
