Belgium will be well represented this year at the Toronto Film Festival (8-18 September).

film profile], the third feature by Stephan Streker, will be screened in the Discovery section. The film tells the story of Zahira, a young Belgian-Pakistani girl who wishes to keep the baby that’s growing in her womb. Amir, her brother and confidant, promises to help her, but their parents have other plans for the young girl. A Wedding was produced by Daylight in co-production with Formosa Productions, Tarantula Luxembourg, Minds Meet, and Bodhicitta Works in Pakistan, and received support from the CCA, Wallimage, the VAF, and the Film Fund Luxembourg. It will be released in Belgium in early 2017 by Bardafeu Distribution, and in France by Jour2fête, which is also handling international sales.

Six-year-old Eline, Sylvie’s daughter, is fascinated by her mother and grandmother’s mysterious place of work, as she is never allowed in. Dramatic events disrupt their everyday lives and jeopardise the relationships between these three women.
