Written by popular radio and TV comedian Nuno Markl, Refrigerantes e Canções de Amor centres on the adventures of Pedro and Lucas, once a successful music duo but now sworn enemies. After finding out his wife is cheating on him with Pedro, Lucas gets depressed and specialises in what he calls “trolleylogy” – a cruising technique that consists of studying what women put in their supermarket trolleys. It is during one of these attempts to seduce women that Lucas will meet – and fall for – a girl who is promoting a soda brand in the supermarket, dressed as a dinosaur.

The surreal tone of the story is in line with many of the stories that Markl tells in his radio shows, but somehow the transition of the comedian’s humorous universe to the big screen fails to grab or charm the audience. The cast includes Ivo Canelas, along with promising talent Victória Guerra, Lúcia Moniz and two of Portugal’s most renowned songwriters, who unexpectedly show off their acting skills in the film: Jorge Palma and Sérgio Godinho.

Refrigerantes e Canções de Amor is a Fado Filmes production, distributed locally by major Nos Lusomundo Audiovisuais.
