Filming is currently underway in Madrid and the surrounding area for the ensemble comedy Toc Toc, a cinematic adaptation of Laurent Baffie’s work of the same name which, six years after its first performance, is still delighting theatre-goers in Spain, Argentina, Chile and a number of other countries. Vicente Villanueva is directing the film, which will be his third full-length venture following The Opposite of Love [+see also:

— his earlier short films (including Mariquita con perro, Heterosexuales y casados and El futuro está en el porno) having achieved cult status among European film fans. Toc Toc stars the hyperactive and highly versatile Paco León: actor (film, theatre and television), filmmaker and restless spirit, whose social media followers number in the thousands.

For the benefit of those unfamiliar with the original French play, Toc Toc features a group of patients who gather in the waiting room of an eminent psychologist, all suffering from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (or TOC, in Spanish). The doctor is running late, and so they are obliged to wait, struggling to keep their various manias, impulses, compulsions, obsessions and rituals in check. The fact that viewers may well identify with some aspects of their behaviour makes for a fertile source of comedy.

With cinematography by David Omedes (Cerca de tu casa [+see also:
