 – a Working Title (UK) and Universal Pictures (USA) production, filmed in Norway and co-funded by the country's new incentive scheme – Swedish major SF Studios has announced it will adapt Nesbø's new thriller, I Am Victor, for the screen.

In I Am Victor – which is yet to be published – Nesbø, whose thrillers have been translated into 47 languages and have sold more than 30 million copies, describes the adventures of a skilled but morally corrupt and narcissistic divorce settlement lawyer, who finds himself framed for a series of brutal murders. He thus starts his own investigation to find the killer.

“I was completely blown away by this special and totally outrageous character that Nesbø has created, and I am thrilled to be bringing him to the screen together with this fantastic team of collaborators,” said Swedish SF Studios producer Fredrik Wikström Nicastro (the Easy Money [+see also:

) are currently writing the script. “Victor is a genuinely unique character, and we are looking forward to spending some time with him,” they said. Award-winning Icelandic director (and also actor, writer and producer) Baltasar Kormákur will occupy the director's chair. Kormákur most recently helmed The Oath [+see also:

 (2015). Wikström Nicastro, meanwhile, will realise his new project for SF Studios as the company's first collaboration with Iceland's RKV Studios, with Kormákur and Nesbø serving as producers.

I Am Victor is part of SF Studios’ strategy to produce English-language films with top Scandinavian talent for the international market. Swedish director Hannes Holm's A Man Called Ove [+see also:

, which last year took 1.8 million local admissions and was nominated for two Oscars, is being followed up by the Borg/McEnroe sports drama, starring Sverrir GudnassonShia LaBeouf and Stellan Skarsgård.
