The Alentours Forum to unspool in Strasbourg in July

The Alentours Forum – French- and German-language Co-production Meeting (formerly the Rendez-vous de la coproduction rhénane, or Rhineland Co-production Meeting) is set to take place in Strasbourg from 5-7 July 2017.

The programme, which is open to all professionals, will be structured mainly around meetings reserved for financiers and for those producers selected following a call for projects. It will also feature modules intended for auteurs, directors and professional bodies, and relaxed, friendly events organised every evening by the partners in order to enrich the exchanges.

The main objective is to inject more enthusiasm into the exchanges between producers from French-speaking (France, Belgium and Switzerland) and German-speaking countries (Germany, Luxembourg and Switzerland) by kick-starting new co-production projects on a European scale. The co-production forum comprises two days specifically devoted to developing European co-productions and offers producers B2B meeting sessions organised in advance with potential partners.

In order to facilitate exchanges, prior to the event, the forum team will upload a bilingual catalogue including around 40 projects picked from a selection of fiction, documentary, animation and new-media titles. This catalogue will comprise a section for films in development and a section for films at the writing stage.

The programme also includes themed meetings (open to all professionals from the cross-border area and neighbouring territories, including auteurs, screenwriters, directors, local TV stations, producers, service providers, technicians and illustrators), on the topic of cross-border dynamics in the film and audiovisual sectors, as well as conferences dedicated to co-productions between French- and German-speaking countries, with a programme chock full of case studies, masters classes and workshops.

The call for producers with a project is open until Monday 15 May – French-language applications can be made via this registration form, while German-language applications can be submitted here.

The event is organised by the Creative Europe Desk France, the Grand Est region and the Strasbourg Eurométropole, in conjunction with the MFG Baden-Wurttemberg, the GermanBelgianLuxembourgian and Swiss Creative Europe desks, ARTE GEIE, the European Audiovisual ObersvatoryEurimages, the Alsace Cultural Agency, and Image'Est.
