Sponsored by the Hypovereinsbank, Bavaria Film and national radio, Bayerische Rundfunk, the Munich Film Festival presented this year’s winners of the production awards on Friday, 4 July.
Hans Steinbichler won the best director award for Hierankl, Hendrik Handloegen was deemed best screenwriter for Liegen Lemen, Johanna Wokalek won best actress for Hierankl and Christoph Bach won the best actor accolade for Detroit, directed by Carsten Ludwig and Jan-Christoph Glaser.
Saturday 5 July saw the presentation of the “High Hopes” awards, organised by the German Film & TV Producers’ guild – GWFF, and dedicated to newcomers. The winner was French director Robert Kéchichian for Aram, a fast-paced crime story set against the cultural melting pot of contemporary Paris.
