, is entitled A Fond Kiss. Set in Malaga, the film is based upon Shakespeare’s romantic tragedy, “Romeo & Juliet”. It is a love story between two individuals of different race, creed and cultures, issues, which, the director revealed in an interview with top Spanish daily El Mundo “can be barriers, but not necessarily insurmountable ones”.
He said that he “stole” the title from a Scottish poem and decided to make the film in Malaga because of it offered his cast an opportunity for rest and relaxation too. The film is in Spanish because I want it to reflect the characters as they really are. And that includes the language they express themselves in.”
