AUDIOVISUAL Belgium

Ducarme succours CSA

by

More cash and attention from the state to ensure efficient funding for the Superior Audiovisual Council (CSA).
According to an article that appeared in Belgian daily, La Libre Belgique, the new culture minister, Daniel Ducarme is determined to beef up the CSA. The celebrated institution is currently experiencing money and staffing problems and its president, Evelyne Lentzen, was forced to cut the council’s activities and acknowledge that he would not, after all, manage to complete the work he was assigned by a governement decree dated 27 Febuary.
“We have to act now if we want to bring order to the audiovisual sector,” said Ducarme. The minister will now try to convince his peers in the French Community in Belgium’s government to increase funding for the CSA. In the meantime, Ducarme assigned the CSA a €250,000 extra subsidy.
