COMPETITION France

New screenwriting talent

by

336 screenplays were submitted to the first stage of the 3rd First Screenplay Trophy and just 30 were selected, 24 of which are fictional features and 6 documentaries . This search to find new French-language writing talent was organised by the National Film Centre (CNC) and saw a 6 per cent increase in submissions from abroad : 10 of the 30 writers who passed the first test are women and a further two are not French. A jury of professionals will announce the ten winners late in September so stay tuned to Cineuropa!
Each winner will receive a purse of €6,100 as well as personal tutoring in developing their respective projects further.
The competition targets people who have never written a 90-minute-or-over feature or TV film screenplay before and the concept is to encourage people to join what is often and wrongly considered as the “poor cousin” of the film industry, and introduce these writers to established film industry operators. All genres are welcome.
