Cash for two arthouse venues

by

John O’Donoghue, the Irish minister for art, sport & tourism, announced that the Cultural Cinema Consortium will give two grants of €750,000 each to two Irish arthouse cinemas, the Limerick Filmhouse and the Cork Kino. The money means that the two venues can modernise their infrastructure whilst continuing operations.
The Consortium was set up in 2001 as a joint venture between the Arts Council and the Irish Irish Film Board to encourage and facilitate the programming of arthouse films in the Republic.
The Consortium also announced the deadline for applications for a second roundof art house investment: 19 December. Details will be posted on the Arts Council and IFB filmboard sites late in August.
