Juraj Lerotić’s Safe Place wins the Eurimages Award at CineLink
- The industry section of the 24th Sarajevo Film Festival has handed out its awards
The CineLink Industry Days, the Sarajevo Film Festival’s industry section, which ran from 11-16 August, has handed out its awards. The CineLink Co-Production Market jury, comprising Annamaria Lodato, Behrooz Hashemian, Boban Jevtić, Čedomir Kolar, Danijel Hočevar, Georges Goldenstern and Sehad Čekić, decided to award debutant filmmaker-screenwriter Juraj Lerotić with the €20,000 Eurimages Co-production Development Award for his project Safe Place.
The project is being produced by Boris T Matić, of Croatian production company Propeler Film, in co-production with Slovenia’s Staragara, and follows Damir, who’s trying to take his own life while his family wants to save him. Everything happens over a period of just 24 hours.
The Arte International Relations Award, worth €6,000, went to Pjer Žalica’s upcoming project May Labour Day, which tells a story that aims to uncover the truth about a crime that took place 23 years ago, during the war. It is worth mentioning that five former Yugoslav countries and France have boarded production of this project.
The Film Center Montenegro Award, worth €10,000, was bestowed upon the Albanian-Greek project A Cup of Coffee and New Shoes On by second-time writer-director Gentian Koçi (Daybreak [+see also:

Finally, the EAVE Scholarship went to the project Fiume o morte! by Igor Bezinović, produced by Tibor Keser, Vanja Jambrović and Fabrizio Polpettini, which follows famous Italian poet Gabriele D’Annunzio, who, after World War I, conquered and declared an independent micro-state in the Croatian city of Fiume.
