The Open Reel returns to Torino with Figures
- The Italian company is gearing up for the Torino Film Festival, where Eugenio Canevari’s film will be shown, while Thirty Souls travels the world and both movies have inked sales deals in South Korea
Turin-based international sales company The Open Reel is getting ready for the major film festival held every year in its hometown. It is selling Figures [+see also:

Figures is the sophomore feature by Barcelona-based Argentinian filmmaker Eugenio Canevari, which, after its world premiere in San Sebastián’s Horizontes Latinos Competition, is continuing its tour of the Spanish film festivals. Ahead of the Italian premiere, the film is getting an airing in the Panorama section of the 25th L’Alternativa Barcelona Independent Film Festival (12-18 November), while later it will participate in the 32nd International Competition of the Cineuropa Santiago de Compostela Film Festival, running from 7-28 November. Torino marks its first international screening.
A particularly well-travelled title in The Open Reel’s line-up is Diana Toucedo’s debut fiction feature, Thirty Souls [+see also:

Starting its journey at the Berlinale, the movie has been selected at multiple festivals since its screening at San Sebastián in September. Some of the highlights are the Award for Best Photography for Lara Vilanova that it scooped at Cinespaña in Toulouse, its selection in Doclisboa’s New Visions, its participation in the 42nd Sao Paulo International Film Festival, its Polish premiere at the 26th Camerimage in Bydgoszcz and its unspooling at the 56th Gijón International Film Festival, in FICX PLUS. It’s worth noting that the film was released in Mexico last month, and it was also nominated at the Iberoamerican Fénix Film Awards. Imminent screenings include the Pravo Ljudski Film Festival in Sarajevo (28 November-2 December) and the 19th Tbilisi International Film Festival (3-9 December), where Thirty Souls is in competition.
Another important piece of news is that The Open Reel has inked a deal with South Korean distributor CM Nix co, Ltd, which has acquired the rights not only for Figures and Thirty Souls, but also for Al Berto [+see also:
