- Last chance to take advantage of cut-price film tickets in 386 Parisian theatres. Organisers hope this 2nd edition outperforms its predecessor

If you’re a film fan and you happen to be in Paris, listen up. Today is your last chance to take advantage of a three-day cut-price offer to see a film in any of the Ville Lumière’s 386 theatres for just €3.
The second edition of “3 Days, €3 this popular promotional event was organised jointly by the Municipality and the French Film Federation (FNCF) to give a well-needed boost to the forthcoming season.
Last year’s event saw a 110% rise in cinema attendance with respect to the preceding seven-day period and the organisers hope this year will be even better. Despite a stronger-than-usual summer line up, cinema attendance dropped in July and August and even the highly touted US blockbusters failed to live up to the promotional hype. There was cause for the French industry to celebrate, however, with strong performances from Le coût de la vie (745,000 tickets over 3 weeks), Sept ans de mariage - 1.46million tickets over two months; Le mystère de la chambre jaune - 950,000 and Les Triplettes de Belleville [+see also:

- 700,000 tickets. The season’s flops included Rencontre avec le dragon which only managed to attract 110,000 customers in 2 weeks.
In terms of the Gallic film market, the next few weeks are crucially important with the release of two films selected for Cannes: André Téchiné’s Les égarés (it opened on 20 August onto 300 screens by courtesy of Mars Distribution) and Claude Miller’s La Petite Lili which will hit 200 screens on Wednesday 27 August by courtesy of Pyramide Distribution.
