The Amandas
The surprises at the Norwegian film industry's most important celebration, the Amandas, were few and far between. Norway's equivalent of the Oscars were presented on Friday 22 August, during the International Film Festival of Haugesund.
For the most part, the awards went to the productions that distinguished themselves both in terms of domestic box office takings and awards won in Venice, Berlin and Cannes.
A Danish title, Reconstruction by Christoffer Boe (winner of Caméra D'Or in Cannes), was designated Best Nordic Debut, while the UK's The Hours by Stephen Daldry won Best Foreign Film.
