Two new titles enter the Cannes competition
Mektoub, My Love: Intermezzo by Abdellatif Kechiche

As expected, the Official Selection of the 72nd Cannes Film Festival (14-25 May) has been finalised today. The 19 initial contenders for the Palme d'Or (see the news) have now become 21, and the overall line-up oozes class and style, as two former winners will now be locking horns: France’s Abdellatif Kechiche (who emerged victorious in 2013 with Blue Is the Warmest Colour [+see also:

), who will be unveiling Mektoub, My Love: Intermezzo [+see also:

, and the USA’s Quentin Tarantino (triumphant in 1994 with Pulp Fiction and subsequently back in competition in 2007 and 2009), who will be bringing Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood to the Croisette. These two massive names from the upper echelons of the international film world thus herald a supersize and extremely exciting competition that will pit six directors who already have at least one Palme d’Or in their trophy cabinets (two in the case of the Dardenne brothers and Ken Loach, and one for Terrence Malick) against eight filmmakers who are participating in the competition for the first time.
