The VFX Day consists of a series of lectures and presentations geared towards special effects. The speakers in this section include VFX creator Lukáš Jankovčin, experimental artist Tibor Meliš, Ľubomír Timko and Marek Ježo, from Slovakian studio Blue Faces, which was involved in creating the VFX for prestigious film series such as Harry Potter, The Avengers and Anomalisa. In addition, director-animator Andrej Kolenčík will broach the topic of low-budget productions that use special effects. Czech scriptwriter-playwright Peter Kolečko, who co-wrote the record-breaking television series Most! with Jan Prušinovský, will hold a master class.

Relevant case studies will also be presented during the TV Industry Day, courtesy of Czech producer Vratislav Šlajer, of Bionaut; Adriana Kronerová, from Slovakia’s In/Out Studio; and DNA Production producer Rastislav Šesták. They will be joined by several directors of domestic television channels (Jaroslav Rezník, of Radio and Television Slovakia; Marcel Grego, of TV Joj; and Matthias Settele, of TV Markíza) along with the director of the Slovak Audiovisual Fund, Martin Šmatlák, and the president of the domestic Association of Independent Producers, Zuzana Mistríková. They will discuss a wide range of topics, including broadcasters’ contribution to film production and how independent producers can contribute to television productions, as well as their roles and the models of possible collaboration between television channels and independent producers.

The industry programme of the 27th edition of Art Film Fest in Košice, Slovakia, will unspool as follows: Inspirational Days from 17-18 June, the VFX Day on 19 June, the Peter Kolečko master class on 20 June, and the TV Industry Day on 22 June.
