The sheer hyperactivity of these two men is complemented by that of young actor Miguel Herrán, who was discovered by Daniel Guzmán in 2016, rising to fame as the protagonist of his feature debut, Nothing in Return [+see also:

(in which he also acted alongside Tosar), and who has gained even more of a reputation after partaking in the series Money Heist and Elite. He is joined by fellow cast members Carolina Yuste (winner of the most recent Goya Award for Best Supporting Actress for her turn in Carmen & Lola [+see also:

). In the supporting roles we find Patricia Vico, Fernando Cayo, César Mateo and Richard Holmes, who is making his cinematic debut. Also set to make their first appearance on the silver screen are urban musicians Ayax, Dollar SelmouniOlmo (Jarfaiter), Ramseys and Carlytos Vela.

With a screenplay written by Calparsoro’s regular collaborator, Jorge Guerricaechevarría, according to the synopsis, Hasta el cielo tells the story of Ángel and how his life changes forever when he speaks to Estrella in a nightclub. After a scrap with Poli, the girl’s possessive boyfriend, the latter discovers that Ángel has a knack for getting into trouble and, most importantly, getting out of it, too. For that reason, he encourages him to join a gang of thieves who have the entire police force of Madrid on their guard. Ángel soon begins to climb a hierarchy revolving around dirty money, shady deals and corrupt lawyers, which will lead him to be cornered by Duque, a tireless detective who will not rest until he has put an end to his life of crime. It’s a journey that began in the filthiest of slums and which is ultimately setting its sights as high as you can get: the sky.

Hasta el cielo is a heist thriller shot through with strong emotions. It’s a fun and fast-paced film set against a social backdrop that portrays the trials and tribulations of those delinquents who were brought up beyond the cranes of the real-estate bubble, after the opportunities had been snapped up, and who have made theft into an art form, a way of gaining access to the pleasures and luxuries that our society offers, but which are reserved for a small handful of people,” Calparsoro stated.

Hasta el cielo, the shoot for which will take place for two months, taking in Madrid, Valencia and Ibiza, is a Vaca Films production. It boasts the involvement of RTVEMovistar+ and Telemadrid, and has secured support from the ICAA and the MEDIA programme. The movie will be distributed in Spain by Universal Pictures International Spain and internationally by French sales agent Playtime
