Reno in the lair of the wolves

by

The maestro of thrillers, the French novelist Jean-Christophe Grangé is having another of his works adapted for the cinema. His previous work Crimson Rivers has already been made into a film and now his fourth novel, L'empire des Loups is soon set to become a film, produced by Gaumont and directed by Chris Nahon (Kiss of the Dragon). Filming is due to begin at the start of 2004 while the main part will be played by Jean Reno, who once again will be playing the character of Inspector Paul Nerteaux, on the trail of a serial killer.

A woman who suffers from amnesia and hallucinations, police infiltrators in a terrorist network, a neurologist who investigates unknown areas of the brain, a killer who turns his murders into rituals, an investigation into illegal immigrants in the Turkish quarter in Paris, and the Grey Wolves, a secret mafia organisation that sows fear and terror with its European drug trafficking: these are all the typical ingredients used by the Parisian writer, all issues which led to the success at the cinema for Crimson Rivers . And the new work is also set to offer an equally exciting rollercoaster ride.
Gaumont had already produced Crimson Rivers which had a budget of €14.48m and it will be investing between €20-30m for this new work. However Alain Goldman’s Légende Entreprises, which was the co-producer of the first adaptation of Grangé’s novel won’t be involved in the start of the project, due to its previous commitment to the production of Crimson Rivers 2 with EuropaCorp by Luc Besson.
