With her dazzling aura, Penélope Cruz, the most famous resident of Alcobendas, a city just outside Madrid, shone bright last night during the ceremony for the seventh Feroz Awards, which are handed out every year by the Spanish Association of Film Journalists - AICE. Coincidentally, the ceremony took place in her home town, and there, her friend, maestro Pedro Almodóvar, comfortably came out on top with his latest work, Pain & Glory [+see also:

In one of his acceptance speeches, “Pedro the Great” – as he is called by some of his legions of fans – pointed out that the Feroz was the first award that his most recent film (which is in the running for two Oscars at the impending edition) has pocketed on its own merits in Spain. Let’s not forget that at the recent Forqué Awards, it was only Banderas who was recognised for his work in the feature (see the news).

Without a doubt, the other big winner of last night was Enric Auquer, who took two gongs home to his native Catalonia: Best Supporting Actor for both a film and a television series. These extremely well-deserved trophies thus went to the big breakthrough talent of last year, who gave incredible performances in Eye for an Eye [+see also:
