Unfolding in Milan at the end of the 80s, Bang Bang Baby is a crime series centred around a shy and insecure teenager, Alice, who becomes a mafia organisation’s youngest member in a bid to win the love of her father, an ‘ndrangheta affiliate.

“It’s a hugely important and significant project for us, and a highly ambitious challenge”, insisted Chief Executive Officer of The Apartment Lorenzo Mieli yesterday, at a Rome-based event presenting new Italian Amazon Original projects. “It brings together - and is a unique and unprecedented cross-over between - the crime genre and a teen-family drama, from a wholly female perspective. The result is an explosive coming-of-age story, a dark-rock comedy immersed in the pop culture of the 80s, which is the time-period in which the story is set”.

“In the 80s, I was a kid a lot like Alice, and just like her, I lived on American TV films whose protagonists often had unusual outlooks in our minds, with regard to life and the world of crime”, Andrea Di Stefano explained. “The idea, therefore, of taking on this young woman’s coming-of-age tale, of sorts, and her incredible journey through the cruel and ruthless universe that is the criminal underworld, and being able to do so by way of a language and a culture typical of the 1980s which so characterised my own youth, seemed an incredible opportunity to me. Alice handles her descent towards hell with innocence, but also with incredible maturity, and she does so by clinging on to pop culture, giving life to a wholly unprecedented story, both in terms of this particular world and the history of our culture”.

The lead role of Alice will be played by the talented youngster Arianna Becheroni (previously seen in My Brother Chases Dinosaurs [+see also:
