The film is being authorised by Marianne Faithfull, who is reportedly “delighted that my story is finally being made”. The production is scheduled to shoot later this year.

The film is set in the mid-1960s, when Faithfull was dating Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger. No actor is currently attached to play Jagger. Faithfull inspired many of the British band’s greatest hits. The film will deal with her rise and fall, and her relationship with drugs. Bonhôte says the feature will address issues of gender and fame: “The movie will explore female-led issues as well as the injustices [Faithfull] suffered in her quest to be recognised as an artist.”

Altitude has acquired the worldwide sales rights and will embark on pre-sales at the European Film Market (EFM) in Berlin later this month. Faithfull is being backed by the UK’s Lorton Entertainment.

The producers of this 100% UK production are Julia Taylor-Stanley, of Artemis Films, and Colin Vaines, of Synchronistic Pictures, while Andee Ryder will also produce for Misfits Entertainment. Julian Bird and Abi Gadsby, from Lorton Entertainment, Will Clarke, Andy Mayson and Mike Runagall, for Altitude, and Francois Ravard and Gideon Wittenberg will also serve as executive producers.
