UPDATE (17 June 2020): It has now been revealed that the Sofia International Film Festival will have a physical edition this year, beginning on 25 June - and its industry platform, Sofia Meetings, is also definitely back with a vengeance. The 17th edition of the event will be held online this year, from 3-8 July, with as many as 37 projects ready to be pitched, presented and discussed with dozens of producers. Six projects hailing from Europe, Georgia and Turkey will be pitched in the Second Film sidebar, with another 11 first or third films being presented in the Plus Minus One section. A third sidebar, Projects in Bank, has selected 12 projects hailing mainly from Bulgaria. Finally, a new edition of First Films First will help eight projects to navigate the oversaturated market. Sofia Meetings, the industry platform of the Sofia International Film Festival (12-22 March), strengthens its fame as one of the biggest industry events in Southern Europe with its 17th edition (18-22 March). As many as 37 projects will be pitched, presented and discussed during the event — a slight increase compared to the 34 of last year.

Six projects hailing from Europe, Georgia and Turkey will be pitched publicly in the Second Film sidebar, with another eleven first or third films being presented in the Plus Minus One section. A third sidebar, Projects in Bank, has selected 13 projects hailing mainly from Bulgaria. Finally, a new edition of First Films First will help eight projects to find their way in the oversaturated market.
