The Emperor’s Wife wins at Viareggio
The film’s soundtrack was composed by Max Beesley from Britain, who was also the main actor in the production. “When we were shooting the scene in the dancehall” recalls Julien Vrebos, “I heard Max playing a piece on the piano that was precisely the style of music I wanted for the film. I immediately asked him to compose the whole soundtrack, something he did with great enthusiasm”.
Max Beesley is the son of the musician Maxton Beesley and the singer Chris Marlowe, and he has also performed with Take That, George Michael and Jamiroquai.
The Emperor’s Wife is set in a distant and unknown country governed by mysterious traditions. The Emperor has been married for 6 years and his wife still hasn’t had any children. But according to a secret law, if the Empress doesn’t give birth to a son seven years after the date she is married, she has to be replaced …. Apart from Max Beesley, the film also stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Rosanna Pastor and Leticia Dolera.
