, Why Not You is the first feature film written and directed by Evi Romen. Its central character is Mario, a young dancer who has returned home to his small Austrian village to come to terms with the loss of his beloved best friend Lenz, who was the victim of a terrorist attack in a gay club.

"A modern Alpine Neorealism is unveiled through the image of a young rebel”, explains the director, “who fights fiercely and never surrenders, even after being involved in a dramatic terrorist attack. My heart beats for all those "bad boys" who always make the wrong decisions and never behave as they should. My heart beats for Mario, who’s one of them and who, perhaps, in another life would have been a great dancer.”

The winner of 2017’s prestigious Carl Mayer Screenplay Award, the project form of Why Not You took part in Ekran+ in 2018, an international training programme for directors and film professionals organised by Warsaw’s prestigious Wajda School.

Appearing in the cast of the movie are Thomas Prenn and Noah Saavedra (the star of Dieter Berner’s Egon Schiele: Death and the Maiden [+see also:
