The first clapperboard will slam on 12 January for Like an Actress, the first feature film by Sébastien Bailly who previously turned heads with Féminin plurielles [+see also:

(a programme released in cinemas in 2018 and consisting of three short films), Où je mets ma pudeur (in competition in Sundance 2014) and Douce (selected for Clermont-Ferrand’s national competition in 2012), to name a few.

In terms of his cast, the director will rely on lead performances from Julie Gayet (nominated for the Best Supporting Role César in 2014 for The French Minister [+see also:

), the story revolves around Anna, a talented, well-known actress who, having reached forty years of age, is now experiencing a difficult patch in her professional and personal life. When she discovers she has a power which allows her to change her physical appearance and transform herself into whomever she wishes, she uses this power to put her relationship, and thus her husband Antoine, to the test. But will she lose herself in the process...?

Produced by Ludovic Henry and Antoine Roux on behalf of La Mer à Boire (who have already teamed up with the director on several of his shorts), Like an Actress has been pre-purchased by Ciné+ and also enjoys the support of the Ile-de-France region. Filming will unfold over a six-week period, both in Paris and the city’s surrounds. Distribution in France will be managed by Jour2Fête and international sales by Loco Films.
