The European Women's Audiovisual Network to host its Annual Members' Meeting virtually on 25 February

Since 2013, EWA (European Women's Audiovisual Network) has grown as a strong and supportive community for women audiovisual professionals across Europe. In this special year, the organisation's Annual Members' Meeting will be held entirely online on 25 February and is set to replace the traditional gathering that normally takes place on site during the Berlinale.

The programme will consist of two parts. The first half will focus on the current issues of gender equality and diversity. The second one will be broken down into two thematic talks designed exclusively for EWA Network members. The initiative will be rounded off by an informal networking event open to invited professionals.

In detail, the first part of the programme (open to the general public) will kick off at 9.20 am and will be opened by award-winning Spanish director Isabel Coixet's welcome speech (Coixet is also EWA's honorary president). Her contribution will be followed by the keynote speech by campaigner and artist Zita Holbourne, entitled “Gender Equality and Diversity – The Role of Creativity and Activism”. The first part of the gathering will be brought to a close by a panel discussion on the same topic moderated by Paula Vaccaro and with the participation of Holbourne along with Helge Albers (CEO of the Hamburg Film Fund), Liisa Holmberg (film commissioner at the International Sámi Film Institute) and actress-director Alina Serban. The second part of the event (open to EWA members), set to begin at 1.30 pm, will host two online hangouts. The first one is a conversation with LevelK CEO and founder Tine Klint, entitled “Challenges of Post-COVID Releases and the Role of the Platforms”. The second hangout will see Documentary Association of Europe founder Brigid O'Shea delivering a talk entitled “One Year of Online Markets and Festival Activities: Lessons Learnt”. An informal meet-and-greet open to invited professionals will follow starting at 2.30 pm.

The EWA's Annual Members' Meeting is being organised in partnership with Cineuropa and with the support of the Lithuanian Film Centre, the Swedish Film Institute, the Österreichisches Filminstitut (OFI), the CNC, the municipality of Strasbourg and the Grand Est region.
