Four projects have been awarded support by the IDM Alto Adige Film Fund & Commission during its first 2021 call. These consist of three fiction feature films and one documentary, all presented by Italian production companies, of which two are co-produced by Switzerland and one is co-produced by Croatia, Bosnia and Germany. Forty-eight days of filming are scheduled in the Alto Adige region in relation to these works.

The first lucky title is Lovely Boy, a second film by Francesco Lettieri (Ultras [+see also:

, produced by Bolzano-based firm Helios Sustainable Films in co-production with Catpics (Zurich). This family-focused drama unfolds in a quiet town in southern Italy where two families are spending their holidays together, as is their tradition. But an accident suddenly upends the family idyl and drives the various characters to breaking point.

Likewise ready and waiting to pocket funds is Grazia Tricarico’s first film Body Odyssey [+see also:

, which is produced by Roman group Revok alongside Swiss firm Amka Film Productions. The story revolves around a professional bodybuilder, Mona, who is accepted to compete on Miss Body Universe and becomes convinced that this is her last chance to win the title. Her sole objective now is total self-control in an ultimate bid to become the perfect specimen.

Last but not least on the film fund’s list is Souvenirs of War, a documentary written and directed by the Alto Adige helmer Georg Zeller and produced by Helios Sustainable Films. The movie reflects upon tourism in Bosnia, 25 years after the bloodiest conflict in Europe since the end of the Second World War. Croatia’s Antitalent, Sarajevo’s Dokument and Germany’s Florian Film are co-producing the picture.

The next 2021 deadlines for applying for financial support from the IDM Alto Adige Film Fund & Commission are 4 May (second call) and 21 September (third call). Further details can be found here.
