), the story homes in on Lorik, who’s barely thirty years old yet who works as an enforcer for the Albanian mafia in Brussels, alongside his mentor Aleks. And when Lorik falls in love with Sema, a Fine Arts student of Turkish origins, his past comes back to haunt him: a man hailing from Lorik’s village in Albania, whose father was killed by the latter’s uncle, tracks down the young man and demands that his family’s debt be paid for in blood, as per the Kanun tradition. In short, he asks the clan for Lorik’s death…

Kanun is produced by Aimée Buidine and Julien Madon on behalf of Cheyenne Federation and is co-produced by Belgian group Polar Bear. Pre-purchased by Canal+ and Ciné+, the feature film (which was shot over the course of five weeks, overall) also enjoys the support of Screen Flanders and the SOFICA company Sofitvciné. Distribution in France will be steered by The Jokers whilst international sales fall to Other Angle Pictures.

For the record, Cheyenne Federation recently supplied TF1 with the series Une affaire française (also created and co-written by Jérémie Guez) and is currently producing the documentary miniseries Notre-Dame, la Part du feu [+see also:
