Alliance Atlantis on Irish stories
by Annika Pham
The major Canadian production, distribution and international sales company Alliance Atlantis announced during a recent meeting with the Irish Film Board that they are actively looking for Irish film and TV projects as part of their strategy to produce distinctive films under €10m.
Charlotte Mickie, Head of sales for the group’s film division and Ted Riley, president of the 18 month-old Alliance Atlantis office in Dublin said that they want an active engagement with local talent and that their company would consider a range of deal structures ranging from a pure foreign sales deal, executive production involving Irish, Canadian co-producers and a German tax fund for example, and direct co-production. Mickie and Riley also said that potential financial deals could also include pre-sales to Alliance Atlantis’ Canadian TV channels, or co-financing or co-production of TV dramas and documentaries.
