John Crowley's Intermission grabbed the most nominations for the upcoming Irish Film & Television Awards, the most important awards ceremony for the Irish film and TV industry set to take place in Dublin on November 1st. Intermission's 11 nominations included Best film, Best director, supporting actresses (Deirdre O'Kane and Ger Ryan), script (Mark O'Rowe) and David Wilmot was nominated twice as Best supporting actor and Best new talent.

Grand Pictures' Spin The Bottle was nominated 8 times notably for Best actor (Michael McElhatton), actress (Bronagh Gallagher), and script (Ian Fitzgibbon/Michael McElhatton).

Robert Quinn's Dead Bodies produced by Distinguished Pictures and Disney/World 2000/Bruckheimer Films' Veronica Guerin were both nominated 7 times: in the Best film, director, script (Derek Landy), actor (Andrew Scott), editing, cinematography (Donald Gilligan), and sound categories for Dead Bodies, and in the Best film, supporting actress (Brenda Fricker), Supporting actors (Ciaran Hinds and Gerard McSorley), cinematography (Brendan Galvin), hair and costume design for Veronica Guerin.

Liz Gill's Goldfish Memories got six nominations including Best film, script (Liz Gill), actress (Flora Montgomery) and supporting actress (Fiona Glascott), and Song for a Raggy Boy got four nominations in key categories: Best film, director (Aisling Walsh), actor (Aidan Quinn), and cinematography (Peter Robertson).

Four Provinces' The Actors will compete for the Best film, script and editing, Power Pictures' Chavez-Inside the coup for Best Irish film and documentary, and Conspiracy of Silence for Best film director (John Deery) and new talent (Jonathan Forbes).

Among the five shorts competing this year for the Best Short Film Award are four films supported by the Irish Film Board: The Last Time, Meeting Che Guevara and The Man From Maybury Hill, No, No, No and Strangers In The Night.
