As stories bring communities together through visions, emotions or imaginary shared constructions, the stories propelled by moving images have become the engine creating the representations and projections of our societies. The challenge for writers and filmmakers is to explore how the spectrum of storytelling possibilities and cultures can help rebuild a new humanism. An attempt at redefining "what is a story" becomes a fundamental lever in the manufacture of meaning, and a humanist tool in a world facing huge transformations.

The strength of Europe lies in its multiculturalism, secularism, the singularity of real-life individual experiences, the integration of social criticism in individual stories. And beyond Europe, other storytelling traditions can help us understand how the game of shaping a story can be an incredibly powerful tool to celebrate life, more than power and violence.

StoryTANK’s second season opens its microphone to story specialists from Africa, the Middle East, Amazonia and Pre-Socratic Greece, and to researchers in Narratology, Anthropology, Psychology and Neuroscience.

In details, the StoryTANK features: Anaïs Goudmand, researcher, PhD in narratology in Lausanne University and EHEaSS (Switzerland/France); Frédéric Lambert, professor in semiotic and anthropology of contemporary worlds in Paris 2 University, PhD in Semiology of text & images (France); Christophe Recasens, doctor in psychiatry (France), Massamba Guèye, doctor in literature, Griot, writer and playwright (Senegal); Moussa Sène Absa, screenwriter and filmmaker (Senegal); Atiq Rahimi, novelist, screenwriter, filmmaker and playwright, Goncourt Prize (Afghanistan); Matthieu Taponier, screenwriter, editor and Hellenist (France); Nicolás Buenaventura, storyteller, screenwriter and filmmaker (Colombia); Ralf Schmälzle, researcher at Michigan State University, PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience (Germany); Jacqueline Thompson, researcher in social cognition, PhD in Experimental Psychology in Oxford (UK); Christelle Berthevas, screenwriter (France); Pierre Hodgson, screenwriter and script-consultant (UK); Ralitza Petrova, screenwriter and filmmaker (Bulgaria); and Antoine Le Bos, screenwriter, founder and co-director of Le Groupe Ouest.

All the interviews will be available on StoryTANK’s YouTube Channel, and will be broadcasted all summer long.

StoryTANK is supported by Creative Europe - MEDIA and CNC, processed by Atelier 7 and Les Parasites, developed with Control N, Vlaams Audiovisueel Fonds (VAF), Krakow Festival Office (KBF), and the Transilvania International Film Festival, in partnership with the Lithuanian Film Centre, the Norwegian Film Institute, Région Bretagne (France) and Screen Scotland, as well as Focal (Switzerland).
