by Wolfgang Becker. Wortmann’s comedy about the 1954 national football victory has already registered an audience of 1 million, in just two weeks of theatrical release, even when faced with competition from Kill Bill and Bad Boys II.

In the list of the most popular films, there are also another two national productions in 9th and 10th positions, namely Die Wilden Kerle and Herr Lohmann, but from now onwards there’ll be stiff competition from the American Christmas blockbusters. However, the real surprise at the German box office is Die Villa mit Weintrauben ("The villa with the bunches of grapes"), a small Turkish film distributed just 35 prints, in the original language with subtitles, which has attracted an audience of 72,000, winning it 8th place at the German box office.
