05/05/2022 - The new section of the laboratory which supports talent from all over the world, will organise initiatives and activities promoting cooperation between Italian entities and their foreign counterparts

The TorinoFilmLab is launching a new section - TFL Italy - which will organise initiatives and activities aimed at internationalising Italian professionals and film firms and promoting cooperation between Italian entities and their foreign counterparts. This new initiative from the Turin-based lab for international audiovisual talent, which is sponsored by Italy’s National Film Museum, has been developed with three specific target-groups in mind: emerging and expert Italian professionals; regional and national Italian institutions; and international institutions and film industries.

TFL will notably be making available a team of over 100 international tutors and trainers capable of covering a variety of fields within the sector and of guaranteeing a high level of education, to all those looking to develop their professional careers. TFL also intends to make this expertise and network available to the many national and regional film institutions who are already actively supporting and educating emerging film professionals and others, and who will now be able to widen the scope of their activities on an international level, thanks to TFL’s initiative. By proactively and systematically working on Italian soil, TFL might further become a reference point for foreign entities and global film industry representatives who are interested in working with the Italian film sector, either on an institutional or private basis.

It’s by way of the Alpi Film Lab (a training course for film professionals focusing on Italian-French co-production – read our interview) and Up & Coming Italy (a programme supporting emerging Italian producers who are looking to take their first steps in international co-production) that the TorinoFilmLab will seek to pursue the three objectives underpinning TFL Italy, linking up Italian professionals, institutions and firms with their foreign counterparts. TorinoFilmLab Italy will also organise one final event unfolding within Torino Film Industry.

In the meantime, TFL continues to go from strength to strength. The lab has just celebrated the success of a director who has featured in its line-up two years in a row (ScriptLab 2017 and FeatureLab 2018) and has now bagged herself a Best New Director David di Donatello award, which comes with production prizemoney of 40,000 euros: Laura Samani via her movie Small Body [+see also:
